Ian Harrison
(cornett, shawm, bagpipes, voice, fiddle)
is one of Europe's leading performers
on mediaeval and renaissance wind instruments.
He grew up in Newcastle upon Tyne, where the tradition of English bagpiping continued unbroken.
He received a Masters Degree in Music Performance studies from the City University, London,
and went on to study at the Royal Conservatoire,
The Hague and at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, where he now teaches mediaeval wind music.
He co-directs the mediaeval wind ensemble
'Les haulz et les bas', and has performed with Sarband since 1990.
