Zhenfang Zhang
(Erhu)

was born in Zhengzhou, capital of the province Henan
in the heart of China.

Already as a little girl she began to take lessons on the Erhu. The famous musician Loumeng Shi discovered her great talent at an early stage.

In 1984 Zhang Zhenfang was accepted by the conservatories of Peking and Wuhan simultaneously on account
of her excellent achievements.

Four years of studies with Shao Zhang and Jangde Xu followed. At the same time, Zhang Zhenfang also studied the traditional, seven-string Guqin with Xianting Li.

She started performing with Ensemble Sarband in 2008.
