Passions
Photo: J. Haug

In the deepest suffering, there is passion;
true passion embodies suffering.

This eternal truth of Christian thought, gained from the passion of Christ and the martyrdom of the saints,
is explored by Sarband on a journey through poetry,
music and images of the era that founded its stance towards life in it: the 15th century.

Projections confront music by Prepositus Brixiensis, Nicolas Grenon, Walter Frye, Pietro Rosso, John Dunstaple,
Gilles Binchois and Guillaume Dufay
with the art of Hieronymus Bosch, Sandro Botticelli and other contemporary artists.

Poems by François Villon illuminate the still unsolved question of sin and redemption.

Judith Haug: projections / N.N.: recitation of poems by François Villon
