Salah Eddin Jawdat Maraqa was born in Amman (Jordan).
He began studying the Qanun at the age of nine at the
National Music Conservatory (Noor Al-Hussein Foundation).

During the seven years he studied at NMC, he represented Jordan in solo
performances as well as a member of NMC Arab Ensemble / Arab Orchestra
in many local and international music festivals in various Arab
and European countries.

In 1994  the legendary Iraqi oud-virtuoso Munir Bashir
became his mentor and teacher.

In the same year, he was awarded with a special prize for his concert
at the «Third Arab Music Conference» in Cairo.  In 1995 he was awarded
the «Al-Hussein Gold Medal for Excellence», presented to him  by
Her Majesty Queen Noor. of Jordan. 

Since 2000, Salah Eddin Maraqa has been living in Germany, where he is
currently finishing his PHD in Musicology at the University of Münster.

As a performing artist and as a musicogist, he is researchng and actively enriching a more than a thousand years old
genuine Arabic music heritage.

He performs with artists such as Kudsi Erguner, Ami Flammer, Lluis Claret, Christian Ivaldi, Renaud Garcia-Fons,
Bruno Caillat, Philippe Bachman and many others.
