Hugo Siegmeth

Hugo Siegmeth was born in Arad (Romania) in 1970.
In 1976, he emigrated to Germany with his family.

From 1994 to 1999 he studied at the Richard-Strauss-Konservatorium
with Leszek Zadlo (jazz saxophone) and Thomas Zoller (arrangement)
amongst others.

Since 1999 he works as a soloist and composer in various jazz and world
music ensembles. In 1998, he was awarded the Bavarian Jazz Advancement
Award (Bayerischer Jazzförderpreis). In 2001, he won the
«New Generations 2001» competition of the Bavarian Broadcasting
Corporation. He is part of numerous radio, movie and CD productions
and has since published four CDs of his own.

He also works as a teacher at various universities and conservatories as well
as international workshops. From 2005 to 2008 he was the artistic director
of the Guttenburg Jazz Festival. Since 2006 he composes and produces
movie and television soundtracks (e.g. «Auge in Auge», «Sag mir, wo die
Schönen sind...»).
